RECOGNITION EQUIPMENT AND NCR SIGN LICENSE AGREEMENT
DALLAS, May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Recognition Equipment Incorporated (REI) (NYSE: REC) today announced that it has signed an agreement licensing NCR Corporation (Dayton, Ohio) to market REI's ImageFlow(TM) software developed by REI's Plexus Software Division. NCR plans to incorporate the Plexus(R) workflow product as a core technology in NCR's workflow products.
NCR plans to integrate the Plexus ImageFlow product with NCR's COOPERATION Document Management System, and StarGroup products. NCR, the networked computing resource of AT&T, based in Dayton, develops, manufactures, markets and services enterprise-wide information systems for worldwide markets.
Plexus' ImageFlow software is a fourth generation, interactive workflow product for both image and non-image based solutions. "A key customer requirement is the ability to modify workflows and applications independently from each other," said Dan Beatty, assistant vice president, Cooperative Computing Systems Division-Coordination Technologies at NCR. "ImageFlow software provides this capability. Its graphical, user-based, interactive environment allows immediate redesign of business processes without interfering with work in process, or requiring programming expertise," he continued.
Bob Vanourek, REI's chief executive officer, in commenting on the agreement, said, "We see the NCR license agreement as a validation of our software strategy. We believe that a significant market exists for products which enable businesses to re-engineer and automate their work processes and that the ImageFlow product is positioned to serve that market."
"In combination, the Plexus ImageFlow product and NCR effectively deliver image and non-image based solutions from the desktop to the enterprise," said Bill O'Shea, senior vice president, Network and Integrated Systems Group, NCR Corporation.
REI, headquartered in Dallas, manufactures, sells and services automated work processing systems throughout the world.
NOTE: REI, Recognition and Plexus are registered trademarks and ImageFlow is a trademark of Recognition Equipment Incorporated.
