RECOGNITION ANNOUNCES THE TRACE 2000 HIGH PERFORMANCE DOCUMENT IMAGE SYSTEM AND TRACE 1000E DOCUMENT IMAGE SYSTEM UPGRADE OPTION

DALLAS, April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Recognition International Inc.'s (NYSE: REC) Systems Division today announced the release of the new Recognition(R) TRACE(R) 2000 image system and its companion TRACE 1000e image upgrade kit.
Based on Recognition's TRACE 1000, the TRACE 2000's vacuum-fed transport processes up to 2400 item sized documents per minute (dpm), while providing OCR reading reliability, high quality image capture and greatly reduced maintenance costs.
"TRACE offers high performance and the most diversified high speed paper handling capabilities in the marketplace today," said Fred Bucker, president of Recognition's System Division. "This unparalleled versatility positions the TRACE 2000 as the premier high speed document processing system."
The TRACE 2000 handles intermixed sizes and weights of paper. With up to two multiline OCR readers, plus MICR and Mark Sense, the TRACE 2000 reads documents both optically and magnetically and then compares the results. This feature when combined with its unique ability to read degraded characters allows the TRACE 2000 to deliver high speed processing with fewer rejects resulting in unparalleled read capability.
Document images, captured at resolutions up to 250 dots per inch, are enhanced by sophisticated correlation techniques to improve their appearance and readability. The TRACE 2000 also provides flexible resolution selections and thresholding to provide optimum image resolution. Without affecting productivity, the TRACE 2000 can capture microfilm and/or digital images and append them with a serial index, including information read from OCR or MICR fields such as an account or ticket number. Based on industry-standard open architecture, the TRACE 2000 connects to a wide variety of devices, hosts, and networks.
The TRACE 1000e Upgrade Package provides existing TRACE 1000 users most of the same features, benefits and capabilities of the TRACE 2000 with minimal application changes or operator re-training.
