A triumph of hope over expectation.

That's what two members of one skittles team will be thinking after they scooped the cash in the latest round of Superleague prizes.

Their success came following confirmation of the results for the winners of matches played during weeks 21-24.

Pride of place in the women's competition goes to Cheryl Mackie of the aptly named Recharged Hopefuls, who play in Division E of the Combined Cardiff Clubs League.

She claimed the pounds 50 first prize thanks to an impressive average score of 36.50. Her best effort came in week 21, scoring 37 in her side's comfortable 351-311 win over the Crazy Gang.

And a fortnight later she was at it again, collecting a 36 during the Hopefuls' 350-333 victory against Mo-Jo's.

In second place - and pounds 30 better off - is Cheryl's team-mate Carol Taylor.

Her 33.50 average came on the back of a 35 and a 32 against the Crazy Gang and Mo-Jo's respectively.

And the 35 was to prove decisive as it meant she had a higher individual score than Lesley Audsley from CCCL Division F side Pam's People, who finished third with pounds 10.

She also averaged 33.50, but her best score was 34 which came in the 378-337 win over Roamers.

Switching to the men's list and once again the CCCL was clearly the place to be for high scoring as once again it produced the three winners.

S Griffiths from Division One club New Park Rangers finished top of the pile thanks to his average score of 34.50. His best effort was a 37 in week 24 during the 341-332 success over Bridgend Street, while a week earlier he'd recorded 32 in the 294-276 loss to St Albans.

As with the women, two of the men's prizes also went to members of one team, the one in question this time being Gabalfa Top Guns from Division Two.

M Tout claimed second spot with an average of 33, one which was good enough to earn him pounds 30.

His best effort was a 34 in the week 21 351-308 win over the Muni Dragons, while he also notched up a 30 in week 22 when his side lost 318-300 to the Star Dazzlers.

Just behind in third spot on 32 was another Top Gun, K Ridout, whose performances saw him claim pounds 10.
