RECALL OF RENAULT ALLIANCE AND ENCORE CARS ANNOUNCED

RECALL OF RENAULT ALLIANCE AND ENCORE CARS ANNOUNCED
HIGHLAND PARK, Mich., April 8 /PRNewswire/ -- A voluntary recall of

380,000 Renault Alliance and Encore cars to replace a cooling system component was announced today by Chrysler Corporation (NYSE: C).
Chrysler said the heater core of the affected vehicles could fail, allowing engine coolant to escape inside the vehicle.
Chrysler will mail recall notification letters later this month to owners of 1983 through 1987 model year vehicles. The heater cores will be replaced free of charge at Jeep/Eagle dealerships.
American Motors Corporation (AMC) ceased production of the Renault Alliance and Encore models in 1987, shortly before Chrysler acquired AMC.
Vehicle owners should make sure that the cooling system of their car is maintained according to instructions in the owner's manual, and should contact a Jeep/Eagle dealership if there is indication of engine overheating.
