RCN LAUNCHES FASTEST RESIDENTIAL MODEM ON THE MARKET.
RCN will reward its customers by automatically upgrading their modem speeds at no additional cost. Customers with MegaModem Mach 5, RCN's cable modem service with 5 Mbps download speeds, will be automatically upgraded to MegaModem Mach 7. Customers with MegaModem Mach 3, RCN's cable modem service with 3 Mbps download speeds, will be automatically upgraded to MegaModem Mach 5.
"We built our fiber-rich network from the ground up, allowing us to offer a faster and more reliable broadband Internet service than our competitors. MegaModem Mach 7 is more than twice as fast as other cable modem services, and more than four times faster than the leading DSL services," said Rick Rioboli, senior vice president of RCN Product and Marketing. "As RCN fights for choice and competition, we will continue to provide our customers with the fastest Internet service in the industry."
This is the second time in the last 12 months that RCN has increased the speed of its cable modem service at no additional cost to its customers. Earlier in 2004, RCN launched a fully integrated suite of services for its broadband customers, including McAfee Internet Security, RCN InterACTION Games, and RCN InterACTION Music services.
"We have the perfect combination of the best games and music applications with the fastest Internet service in the industry," said Elad Nafshi, director of Internet and Phone Product Management. "It doesn't get any better than this."
