RAYTHEON WINS NAVY CONTRACT FOR COMBAT TRAINING SYSTEM

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. Nov. 24 ~PRNewswire~ -- Raytheon Company's (NYSE: RTN) Submarine Signal Division, with team member Applied Data Technology Inc.(ADTI) of San Diego, has been awarded one of three design concept development contracts for the U.S. Navy Tactical Combat Training System (TCTS). Raytheon's award totals $1.3 million.
TCTS instrumentation will be designed to enhance naval combat training for surface, subsurface, and air engagements, either singly or collectively.
The instrumentation will provide accurate, realistic, and timely feedback of exercise activities without artificially constraining the exercise participants and with minimal impact on support requirements. Engineering and manufacturing development of the program is scheduled to start in FY 1994.
 C. Dale Reis, Raytheon vice president and Submarine Signal Division general manager, said, "Raytheon and ADTI are dedicated to success in this design concept development, and in our long-term involvement with the Navy's preparedness for tomorrow's missions."
The Submarine Signal Division will be supported by Raytheon's other major military facilities -- the Missile Systems Division of Bedford, Mass.; Equipment Division of Marlboro, Mass.; and the Electromagnetic Systems Division of Goleta, Calif.
Raytheon has had extensive experience in trainer and combat systems, while ADTI is an experienced developer of air combat ranges, and is skilled in aircraft interfacing technology for combat aircraft.
Raytheon, headquartered in Lexington, Mass., is a $9.3 billion technology-based company with sales in Electronics, Aircraft Products, Energy and Environmental, and Major Appliances.
