RAYTHEON WINS $37.4 MILLION SPARROW MISSILE CONTRACT
 LEXINGTON, Mass., July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) today announced that the U.S. Navy has awarded the company a $37.4 million contract for 241 AIM/RIM-7P Sparrow missile guidance and control sections and associated hardware.
 Under the contract, Raytheon received 100 percent of the Navy's award for foreign military sales of Sparrow to NATO and the governments of Australia and Kuwait.
 The contract also includes ancillary Sparrow equipment for other allied nations already deploying Sparrow, including Turkey, Israel, and South Korea.
 Raytheon will perform the work, scheduled to be completed by April 1994, at its Lowell, Mass., plant.
 Sparrow is a supersonic, radar-homing missile used on ships and fighter aircraft of the United States and 21 friendly countries.
 Raytheon has delivered more than 55,000 Sparrows to the U.S. military since the company conceived the missile in the 1950s. The AIM/RIM-7P Sparrow, designed by Raytheon, is the latest version of the missile.
 Raytheon, headquartered in Lexington, Mass., is a $9.3 billion diversified technology company with sales in four business segments: Electronics, Aircraft Products, Energy and Environmental, and Major Appliances.
