RAYTHEON UNIT WINS U.S. AIR FORCE CONTRACT

 WICHITA, Kan., Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Air Force has awarded Beech Aircraft's wholly owned subsidiary, Beech Aerospace Services, Inc. (BASI), a 1-year contract in the amount of $17.7 million. All management, equipment, personnel, and services necessary to support the 14th Flying Training Wing mission at Columbus Air Force Base(AFB), Miss., will be furnished under the contract.
 Additionally, there are four annual options valued at $73.5 million, for a total potential award of $91.2 million.
 Under this contract, approximately 500 BASI employees will provide aircraft maintenance functions to support more than 135 aircraft, including engines and associated ground support equipment. The aircraft include 50 T-37Bs, 70 T38As, and 15AT-38Bs. And beginning with delivery in 1996 to Columbus AFB, there will be an additional 41 T-1As.
 In addition, BASI will provide transient aircraft support, preservation of historical and static display aircraft, and off-station aircraft support.
 From its corporate headquarters in the Central Mississippi Industrial Center, BASI oversees total logistics and training support for military and government aircraft and missile target systems.
 Most of the company's more than 2,100 employees are technicians and service personnel responsible for the maintenance of more than 1,000 aircraft at 197 sites around the world.
 They handle all aspects of aircraft support, from daily servicing and record keeping to depot level maintenance and repair. With work sites in 49 states and 38 foreign countries, BASI is a major aircraft service contractor.
