RAYTHEON UNIT WINS POWER PLANT CONTRACT IN VENEZUELA

 LEXINGTON, Mass., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Engineers & Constructors announced today that it has been awarded, in a consortium with Westinghouse Electric Corporation(NYSE: WX), a fixed-price contract for a $135 million power plant in Cardon, Venezuela.
 Genevapca, C.A., a Venezuelan corporation and independent power supplier, awarded the contract, which calls for Raytheon Engineers & Constructors to provide engineering, equipment procurement, and construction services.
 The 300- megawatt plant, to be built at the Cardon Refinery on the Paraguana peninsula, will support a major expansion program by the refinery's operator, Maraven, S.A. It will be a cogeneration facility, producing both electric power and steam for refinery use.
 Work has already begun on the project, which is scheduled to be completed by July 1995.
 Raytheon Engineers & Constructors will perform the work from its Philadelphia offices and subcontract in-country services and construction to a joint venture of its Venezuelan-based subsidiary, Energy Overseas International, and Inelectra, a major Venezuelan engineering and construction company.
 Westinghouse will provide the combustion turbine generators and associated equipment.
