RAYTHEON UNIT WINS CONTRACT TO DECOMMISSION LONG ISLAND NUCLEAR STATION
 LEXINGTON, Mass., March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- A Raytheon Company unit, United Engineers & Constructors International (UE&C), today announced its award for a $24 million services contract with the Long Island Power Authority to decommission the Shoreham Nuclear Generating Station in Wading River, Long Island, N.Y.
 UE&C has agreed to dismantle, remove and package contaminated components and systems at Shoreham, as well as to be responsible for the general maintenance of the facility. Pre-decommissioning work was started in 1991 with the removal and storage of non-contaminated pumps and equipment. Actual decommissioning began in early 1992 and project completion is targeted for 1994.
 UE&C is a recognized leader and one of the largest contract maintenance firms serving the U.S. nuclear industry. It has provided services for two-thirds of the nuclear installations in the United States. Today UE&C continues to serve the nuclear industry through its design of radioactive waste storage facilities and in the removal and packaging of contaminated waste.
 United Engineers & Constructors International, a Raytheon company, provides engineering, construction, maintenance and environmental services to a wide range of industries across the U.S. and abroad.
