RAYTHEON RESPONDS TO HUGHES SUIT
RAYTHEON RESPONDS TO HUGHES SUIT LEXINGTON, Mass., Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to inquiries
concerning a lawsuit filed by Hughes Aircraft with respect to the AN/SLQ-32 shipboard countermeasures system, Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) today stated that Hughes' allegation that Raytheon Company intentionally breached its leader/follower contract with Hughes, and numerous other charges, are completely baseless and without merit.
In Raytheon's view, Hughes has attempted in this suit to distort and misrepresent events on the SLQ-32 program so as to recover from Raytheon and the U.S. Navy costs to which it is not entitled under the One Dollar contract which Hughes bid to become a follower on the program. Raytheon has taken steps to remove the case to the U.S. District in Los Angeles, Calif. Raytheon, headquartered in Lexington, Mass., is a technology-based international company active in electronics, aviation, major appliances, energy and environmental services, construction and publishing. Raytheon recorded sales of $9.3 billion in 1990. -0- 11/19/91 /CONTACT: Pat Coulter of Raytheon, 617-860-2173/ (RTN) CO: Raytheon Company ST: Massachusetts IN: ARO SU: KM -- NE003 -- 4766 11/19/91 07:56 EST
