LEXINGTON, Mass., Aug. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) today announced that it has named Roy H. Norris III as chief executive officer and president of Raytheon Corporate Jets.
Raytheon Corporate Jets, formed earlier this month when Raytheon acquired British Aerospace Inc.'s Corporate Jet business, manufactures the world's best selling mid-size business jets -- the Hawker 800 and Hawker 1000.
"We're very pleased to have a person of Roy Norris' capabilities to lead this important new addition to Raytheon's aircraft segment," said Max E. Bleck, Raytheon president. "He has both the management skills and the aviation industry experience to help Raytheon succeed in the mid- size business jet market."
Norris comes to Raytheon after having held the senior vice president of marketing and sales posts for Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. and Cessna Aircraft Company during the past four years. His earlier positions include senior vice president of marketing for Network Computing Corporation, sales unit manager at Digital Equipment Corporation, and general sales manager for Groz-Beckert, U.S.A.
Norris earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering at Auburn University in 1967. He is an executive committee member of the United Way of the Plains and an associate board member of the National Business Aircraft Association.
Norris will be based at Raytheon Corporate Jets in Little Rock, Ark. Other Corporate Jets operations are located in Wales and England in the United Kingdom.
Raytheon's Aircraft Products segment consists of Beech Aircraft Corporation and Raytheon Corporate Jets. Beech is the world's leading general aviation manufacturer of business aircraft, offering a broad line of light jets, jetprops, regional airliners, and piston-powered aircraft.
Raytheon recorded $1.3 billion in aircraft sales in 1992. With the addition of Corporate Jets, the company's annual sales in the business aircraft market will exceed $1.7 billion.
Raytheon, headquartered in Lexington, Mass., is a $9 billion diversified, technology-based company with sales in four business segments: Electronics, Aircraft Products, Energy and Environmental, and Major Appliances.
