RAYTHEON FURTHER CONSOLIDATES APPLIANCE GROUP

LEXINGTON, Mass., June 15 /PRNewswire) -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) today announced further consolidation of its appliance companies. All operations of Caloric Corporation are now combined with Amana Refrigeration, Inc., to form one company under the Amana name.
In 1991, Caloric's sales and marketing operations were consolidated with Amana.
Speed Queen Company, a separate Raytheon appliance subsidiary, will continue to serve the commercial laundry market and produce home laundry products for Amana.
Robert L. Swam, Raytheon vice president and Appliance Group executive, has been given the additional responsibilities of Amana president and chief executive officer. He assumes the responsibilities of former Amana president, Charles M. Peters, who has resigned to pursue other business opportunities.
"Consolidation of the remaining Caloric operations will allow us to operate more efficiently and reduce duplication," said Swam. "Most importantly, we will be able to better serve our customers."
Thomas F. L'Esperance has been named president of the Amana Home Appliance division and Wayne Myers has been appointed to the position of vice president-commercial microwave division. Both are new divisions at Amana. The company now has five business divisions: Home Appliances, Heating and Air Conditioning, Commercial Microwave, International, and Consumer Services.
L'Esperance previously served as president of Caloric and will be responsible for all operations of Amana's Home Appliance division including sales, marketing, and engineering for refrigerators, cooking products, washers and dryers, dishwashers, room air conditioners, and dehumidifiers.
Myers will be responsible for the sales, marketing, and engineering of the company's commercial microwave ovens and industrial microwave processing systems.
Raytheon, headquartered in Lexington, Mass., is a diversified, $9 billion international technology company with sales in four business segments: Major Appliances, Electronics, Aircraft Products, and Energy and Environmental.
