RAYTHEON ENGINEERS & CONSTRUCTORS PERFORMS RUSSIAN POWER PLANT STUDY

LEXINGTON, Mass., Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Engineers & Constructors said today that it has completed a feasibility study for a power plant reconstruction project in Russia.
The study, done for Tumen Energo of Russia and partially funded by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, examines the feasibility of reconstructing the 16-unit Surgut Power Plant in western Siberia into a gas turbine, combined cycle turbine-generator system.
The entire Surgut reconstruction project would almost double total plant output, from 3,300 megawatts to 5,800 megawatts, and cost an estimated $3 billion.
Raytheon Engineers & Constructors is teamed for the Surgut reconstruction project with Vectors International/CMP Financial Services, Narberth, Pa., which is providing financial advisory services, and with Energomontage, the former power plant builder of the Russian Ministry of Fuel and Energy. The plant is to be based on General Electric combustion turbine-generators.
The Surgut Power Plant, built in the late 1960s, supplies almost all of the electric power in Tumen, a major oil and gas producing region. The additional electric energy is expected to support increased oil and gas field production and associated infrastructure development.
Raytheon Engineers & Constructors is a unit of Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN), a $9 billion diversified technology company with sales in four business areas: electronics, aircraft, appliances, and engineering and construction.
