RAYTHEON CHAIRMAN PRAISES REP. JOE KENNEDY FOR COURAGEOUS STAND ON NAFTA

LEXINGTON, Mass., Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) Chairman and CEO Dennis J. Picard praised Rep. Joseph P. Kennedy II today for his courageous stand in support of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
"Mr. Kennedy enjoys an outstanding reputation among business and labor for his strong and vigorous support of working men and women. Despite the rhetoric, NAFTA will help working men and women in the Commonwealth and across the U.S.A. His courageous stand on this issue should be applauded and supported by everyone in this state who works hard for a living and who cares about the future," said Dennis Picard.
Picard continued, "The nay-sayers who are predicting massive job losses and disaster for the economy are wrong. Our national and state economies are struggling. Industry is doing all it can to retain as many jobs as possible while remaining competitive in today's global market. Massachusetts has some of the most highly skilled and productive workers in the world. NAFTA will cut the red tape and open up markets to the products our people produce."
Picard concluded with "When the dust settles, NAFTA passes and our economy is back on its feet, the American worker will owe Mr. Kennedy and other courageous leaders like him a debt of gratitude."
