RAYTHEON AWARDED CONTRACT FOR ADDITONAL STANDARD MISSILES

RAYTHEON AWARDED CONTRACT FOR ADDITONAL STANDARD MISSILES
LEXINGTON, Mass., Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has received a contract modification totaling $12.6 million for the production of 51 Standard Missiles (SM-2) and ancillary equipment.
The award, issued by the Naval Sea Systems Command, covers the production of fleet-ready missiles for shipboard air defense.
The contract elevates from 263 to 314 the number of missiles to be manufactured under the FY'91 contract and increases the number of section spares from 20 to 41. It also covers 240 section level shipping containers, as well as supplies of auto battery and steering control units.
The modified contract will provide missiles for Japan and Canada under the U.S. government's foreign military sales program. The work is scheduled for completion by December 1993.
The contract supplements an October 1991, Standard Missile award of $66.5 million, which represented 65 percent of the total FY'91 procurement; and brings to $79.1 million the amount accrued by Raytheon for SM-2 missiles and support equipment in FY'91.
The work will be carried out principally at Raytheon's Missile Systems Division plant in Bristol, Tenn., with final assembly to be performed at the division's facility in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Raytheon, headquartered in Lexington, Mass., is a diversified, technology-based international company active in electronics, aviation, appliances, energy and environmental services, construction and publishing.
