 RAYTHEON AWARDED $55 MILLION CONTRACT FOR NATO SEASPARROW SYSTEMS
 LEXINGTON, Mass., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Navy's Naval Sea Systems Command has awarded a $55 million firm fixed price contract to Raytheon Company's (NYSE: RTN) Equipment Division for the production of NATO Seasparrow Surface Missile Systems.
 The systems will be installed aboard U.S. Navy LHD-5 and AOE-8 ships and Australian Anzac frigates. The work, scheduled for completion by November 1994, will be carried out at the Equipment Division's facilities in Wayland and Waltham, Mass., and the Missile System Division's plant in Bristol, Tenn.
 Raytheon is the prime contractor for this multinational cooperative program. To date, 14 navies have installed or ordered a total of more than 200 NATO Seasparrow systems. The list includes the navies of Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, and the U.S.
 The NATO Seasparrow Surface Missile System provides these navies a proven and effective self-defense capability against a wide variety of threats, including steep-diving aircraft and low-altitude cruise missiles.
