RAYTHEON AWARDED $17.7 MILLION HAWK MISSILE SYSTEM CONTRACT

LEXINGTON, Mass., July 27 /PRNewswire - The U.S. Marine Corps has awarded a $17.7 million contract to Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) for Hawk missile system mobility enhancement modification kits.
Among other enhancements, the modifications will reduce emplacement and displacement times and will accommodate future air defense missiles via a digital launcher.
The modifications consist of mechanical and electrical upgrades to the system's launcher and a digital interface to the Hawk Phase III command and control shelter.
The mechanical modifications to the launcher will allow missiles to be transported aboard the launcher itself, reducing the number of vehicles required to field the system while shortening emplacement and displacement operations.
A stored-energy hydraulic system replaces existing hydraulics to reduce power requirements and improve reliability. The electrical launcher modifications include the replacement of certain analog electronics with digital electronics.
Raytheon, headquartered in Lexington, Mass., is a diversified, $9 billion international technology company with sales in four business segments: Electronics, Aviation Products, Energy and Environmental, and Major Appliances.
