 RAYTHEON AQUIRES TRW SEMICONDUCTOR BUSINESS
 LEXINGTON, Mass., Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company


(NYSE: RTN) today announced that it has acquired the assets of TRW LSI Products Inc., located in La Jolla, Calif. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
 TRW LSI Products Inc., a subsidiary of Cleveland-based TRW Inc. (NYSE: TRW), has been a pioneer in serving the video and imaging market by providing data acquisition, digital signal processing, and multimedia integrated circuits. Its annual sales have been in the $20 million to $30 million range.
 The former TRW operation will be part of Raytheon's Semiconductor Division, based in Mountain View, Calif.
 Raytheon made the acquisition to expand its integrated circuit business. The purchase will complement Raytheon's considerable capability in providing high-speed analog and mixed-signal integrated circuit products.
 TRW LSI Products' semiconductors are widely used in television broadcasting and many other applications. In 1989, the company, which employs 160 people, became the first semiconductor firm to win the Emmy for television-related technical achievement. The LSI sale is part of TRW's restructuring and divestiture program that was announced in December of last year.
 Raytheon's Semiconductor Division, part of the company's Commercial Electronics Group, offers a broad line of semiconductor components, specializing in analog and mixed-signal semicustom Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) and Application Specific Standard Products (ASSPs) manufactured using several process technologies known as bipolar, CMOS, and BiCMOS.
 Raytheon, based in Lexington, Mass., is a $9.3 billion diversified technology company with sales in four business segments: Electronics, Aircraft Products, Energy and Environmental, and Major Appliances.
