RAYTHEON'S BEECH UNIT WINS $17.9 MILLION TARGET MISSILE CONTRACT

WICHITA, Kan., Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Beech Aircraft Corporation, a unit of Raytheon Company(NYSE: RTN), has been chosen by the U.S. Navy to provide 92 AQM-37C target missiles, with deliveries to begin in late 1994.
The Navy has awarded Beech a contract for $17.9 million, which includes targets, spares, kits, data, and an engineering upgrade with state-of-the-art avionics equipment. Included in the contract are options for the Navy to order between 50 and 120 targets each year for four additional years. The contract award and all options have a potential total value approaching $86 million.
Initially developed for the Navy by Beech and introduced to the fleet in 1962, the AQM-37 has been continually updated for improved performance. The current version, the AQM-37C, was developed by Beech in 1981 in response to a U.S. Navy requirement for a high-speed target for testing, evaluation, and training against anti-ship missile threats.
Beech is a leading aviation company. It manufactures, markets, and supports piston-powered, jetprop, and light jet aircraft for the world's commercial, military, and regional airline markets.
Raytheon, headquartered in Lexington, Mass., is a $9 billion diversified technology company with sales in four business segments: Electronics, Aircraft Products, Energy and Environmental, and Major Appliances.
