RAYCOM TO TELEVISE 20 PURDUE BASKETBALL GAMES
 CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Raycom, the nation's leading

independent sports programmer, will televise 20 Purdue University basketball games during the 1992-93 season.
For the fifth straight year, Raycom will televise the games in six markets, including Indianapolis, Lafayette and South Bend.
Raycom's coverage of Purdue basketball begins Nov. 22 when the boilermakers take on the Russian national team in a pre-season exhibition game. Two regular-season tournaments will be televised -- the Boilermaker Invitational Dec. 4-5 and the Sun Bowl Classic Dec. 28- 29 in El Paso, Texas. Purdue meets Florida, ranked 17th in Street & Smith's Top 25 pre-season poll, in the first round of the Sun Bowl Classic. The highlight of the schedule, which includes 11 Big Ten match-ups, comes Jan. 7 when second-ranked Michigan travels to Purdue.
Boilermaker fans will be treated this season to the debut of Glenn Robinson, who sat out his freshman season. A pre-season pick as Big Ten Rookie of the Year, Robinson was considered the nation's top prep player in 1991 along with Michigan star Chris Webber. Despite Robinson's youth, Coach Gene Keady will look to the 6-9 forward to lead a team that returns only two starters, 6-7 junior Ian Stanback and 6-6 sophomore Cuonzo Martin.
Jim Barber will handle play-by-play duties with Bob Ford providing color analysis for the Raycom telecasts.
Based in Charlotte with offices in New York, Chicago and Dallas, Raycom produced and televised a record-number 413 college basketball games last year. Its basketball properties include regional networks for the Big Eight, Big Ten, Pac-10, Metro Conference, Southwest Conference and, in association with JP Sports, the Atlantic Coast Conference. As part of its Big Ten agreement but separate from its Big Ten coverage, Raycom televises selected games for each of the 11 conference schools.
Raycom will also produce 30 games for ABC Sports in which a combination of regional and national games will be televised to 95 percent of the country over ABC stations. All total, Raycom annually produces and televises more than 500 live sporting events and related studio shows.
