RAYCOM TO TELECAST 20 PAC-10 BASKETBALL GAMES CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Raycom, the nation's
No. 1 independent sports programmer, will telecast 20 Pac-10 regular season games for the 1991-92 basketball season.
Raycom will deliver these games to a six-state network that reaches the cities of Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. The Pac-10, led by conference power Arizona, welcomes several players back for the 1991-92 season. UCLA and Washington State have all five starters returning. The league's other returning dominant players include Arizona's Chris Mills (leading scorer for the Cats), Arizona State's Jamal Faulkner and Stanford's Adam Keefe (the Cardinal's only starter returning from last season). USC's Harold Miner and UCLA's Don MacLean are second-team All-America pre-season picks. Play-by-play announcers for the 1991-92 Pac-10 season are Barry Thompkins, Phil Stone and Don Poier. Color analysts are Bill Walton, Wally Walker and Jim Barnett. Raycom, based in Charlotte with offices in New York, Chicago and Dallas, is a specialist in regional networks for college sports. Last year, Raycom carried 334 college basketball games on an over-the-air network covering 80 percent of the country. Recently, Raycom reached an agreement to handle all programming of ABC network college basketball -- selecting the teams, selling and advertising and producing the broadcasts.
