 RAVENSWOOD ALUMINUM DUMPING CYANIDE, OTHER TOXIC WASTES
 IN OHIO RIVER, ENVIRONMENTAL REPORTS SHOW
 Environmental Coalition to Oppose Waste Permits for RAC
 in Interactive Dual-Location April 2 Press Briefing
 Representatives of several national and state environmental organizations, including the Natural Resources Defense Council, will present reports detailing serious, illegal pollution of the Ohio River by the Ravenswood Aluminum Corporation on Thursday, April 2.
 The reports will be discussed at a press briefing at 11 a.m. at the Friends of the Earth, 218 D Street, SE, in Washington, with an audio link to a simultaneous press briefing to be held in the offices of the West Virginia Environmental Council in Charleston, W.Va., with representatives of state environmental groups who are opposing the issuance of a pollutant discharge permit to RAC.
 If unable to attend the press briefing, media will still be able to participate through an interactive telephone link with both the Charleston and Washington locations.
 The participants in the events will be:
 In Washington --
 -- Ben Ross, president, Disposal Safety Inc. and author of one
 of the environmental reports on RAC discharge;
 -- Jack Sheehan, legislative director, USW; and
 -- Diane Cameron, Natural Resources Defense Council.
 In Charleston --
 -- Norm Steenstra, West Virginia Environmental Council;
 -- Dianne Bady, Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition; and
 -- Bill Doyle, vice president and Health & Safety Committee
 chair, United Steelworkers of America (USW) Local 5668.
 To participate in the briefing by telephone, media should call Phil Smith or Jeff Zack at 202-331-3700 by 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, to reserve a phone line. Reservations are limited, and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
 Participating media will be called prior to the beginning of the 11 a.m. press briefing and patched through.
