RATE CASE HEARINGS UNDERWAY; ADJUSTMENTS FILED

 LAS VEGAS, Dec. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Nevada Power Co. (NYSE: NVP) has agreed to $2.9 million of uncontested adjustments in its pending deferred energy rate case with the Public Service Commission of Nevada. The adjustments represent costs which fell outside the test year period. The adjustments reduce the company's overall revenue request to $26.8 million, or 4.52 percent on an annualized basis.
 The PSC Staff is recommending an increase of $23.8 million with the Consumer Advocate recommending $19.1 million.
 Hearings on the company's deferred energy rate increase request began Dec. 1 and are expected to continue later this week. A final decision is expected in February 1994.
