RANGER OPERATED ANGLIA GAS FIELD COMMENCES PRODUCTION
 CALGARY, Alberta, Dec. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The Ranger-operated

Anglia Gas Field (interest 35.63 per cent) on Blocks 48/18b and 48/19b in the southern sector of the U.K. North Sea, commenced full production on Nov. 30. Initial flow rates up to 90 mmcf/d were attained however, it is expected the field will produce about 50 mmcf/d on average throughout the field plateau period.
The Anglia development was completed on schedule, in just 13 and one-half months after Annex B approval, a record for this type of producing field in the U.K. sector. In addition, the two longest horizontal wells drilled to date in the U.K. were successfully completed providing substantially increased productivity for the Anglia field. Capital cost of the project was approximately $120 million (U.S.). Ranger Oil Limited (NYSE, Toronto, Montreal: RGO) has sold its share of the Anglia production, initially for a 22-month period to BP Gas Marketing and Kinetica, followed by a long-term contract for the remaining life of the field with National Power PLC, the U.K.'s largest electrical generator.
Ranger's President and Chief Operating Officer, Fred Dyment, commented "Anglia is the first of seven fields that the company plans to bring on production in the North Sea over the next seven or eight years. I would like to congratulate all those who worked so efficiently to bring this development on production in record time."
