RAMADAN-FRANCE -Turks in France celebrating Ramadan month.

PARIS, August 10, 2011 (TUR) -- Nearly 600,000 Turks are celebrating the holy Ramadan month in fast-breaking tents in Paris, France.

Members of Turkish community living in Pantin district of Paris hold their fast-breaking ceremony in tents each for 150 people and were set up in the garden of French-Turkish Islamic Culture Center Pantin Mosque.

Ramadan is the Islamic month of fasting during which Muslims refrain from eating, drinking and other physical needs during the daylight hours.

Believed to be a time to purify the soul, refocus attention on God, and practice self-sacrifice; Ramadan is intended to teach people about patience, spirituality and humility.
