NEW YORK, Dec. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- RAM Broadcasting Corporation announced today that it will be reorganizing certain executive positions at RAM Mobile Data USA Limited Partnership (RMD), a business which is a part of a joint venture between RAM Broadcasting Corporation and BellSouth Enterprises. RMD provides a wireless data communication service nationwide. The RAM Broadcasting/BellSouth Joint Venture includes paging operations in the U.S. and a domestic and international engineering and consulting business, as well as the mobile data services in the U.S.A. and the U.K.
Carl Robert Aron, chairman of the Joint Venture Partnership, will relinquish his role as CEO of RMD. As chairman, he will focus his efforts on the overall vision, strategy, and direction of the partnership. RAM Broadcasting Corporation has begun a search for and will designate a new CEO for RMD in the near future.
"We have successfully completed RMD's developmental phase and are taking this business to a new level. As we do, it is important that I devote my attentions and energies to broader strategic, financial, and technological objectives and turn over operating responsibility to others," said Mr. Aron. "When you look back at our achievements -- completion of the nationwide networks (note A), the strategic agreements with key software and hardware providers, and the rapidly growing customer base -- one realizes that our long-held vision for RAM has proven correct."
 M. Michael Kulukundis, chairman of RAM Broadcasting Corporation, said, "Carl Aron had the vision to establish public mobile data networks in the U.S. and internationally long before such ideas were, as now, widely accepted. During our developmental phase, Carl's entrepreneurial ingenuity has guided RAM through the realization of that vision by securing radio spectrum in the U.S, the U.K., Australia, and elsewhere and getting the mobile data business off the ground. It is critical to RAM that Carl continue to develop that vision as the world of mobile data becomes increasingly complex."
"Through Carl Aron's leadership, RAM has achieved its start-up objectives and positioned itself as a leader within this industry," said Michael Harrell, president of BellSouth Mobile Data. He continued, "RAM's mission now is to implement its long-term plans and to take advantage of its unique strengths and those of the MOBITEX(R) technology currently being deployed throughout the world."
RAM Mobile Data operates multi-user, wireless data communications networks providing coverage in more than 6,300 cities in the nation's top 210 metropolitan areas, as well as major airports and transportation corridors. RAM's service allows mobile users to send and receive wireless electronic mail and time-critical information, as well as to access host computer databases.
