Dr Punam Bijlani, Clinical Head of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive surgeries at RAK Hospital stressed the importance of screening for women aged 40 and above.

She said: "Breast cancer affects one in eight women during their lives and though most cases occur in women aged 40 and above but certain women with high-risk characteristics may develop it at a younger age.

"With our campaign we aim to encourage women from across the community to take-up screening including breast self-examination, clinical breast examination and mammograms. Raising awareness, tackling stigma, and spreading education about the disease will encourage early detection therefore affecting survival and quality of life."
