RAJAN R. MALINE JOINS CONTINENTAL SAVINGS OF AMERICA AS VICE PRESIDENT, NEW YORK LOAN CENTER

 SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Charles A. Chenes, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Continental Savings of America (NASDAQ: CSAV) announced today that Rajan R. Maline has joined Continental Savings' New York Loan Center. Maline will be responsible for Continental Savings' wholesale loan production for the mid-Atlantic and Northeastern regions covering the following markets: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maryland and Washington, D.C.
 Maline will direct Continental's New York-based loan office through which the company purchases mortgage loans on a wholesale basis from mortgage originators. Chenes said, "Maline's primary objective will be to spearhead all wholesale loan origination activities in the mid- Atlantic and Northeastern regions of the United States, thereby assisting the company to diversify and expand its lending operations into these important market territories." Maline will be assisted by Thomas Calabro, the New York Loan Center wholesale manager.
 Maline previously served as chairman/chief financial officer of Capital First Mortgage Corp. in New York. He is a graduate of St. Johns University and resides in Bedminster, N.J.
 Continental Savings of America is a fully capitalized, federally chartered, publicly owned savings and loan association headquartered in San Francisco. The company operates 24 loan origination offices in Northern and Southern California, New York and Texas, with assets of $510 million. Its principal business consists of originating loans secured by existing single family residences for sale in the secondary mortgage market.
