RAINBOW/AVENTAIL PROVIDE SECURE USER-BASED EXTRANET SOLUTIONS.
Rainbow's iKey inserts directly into the USB port of a computer, eliminating the need to have a separate, expensive reader attached or integrated into the system. This solution suits companies looking to deploy a low cost hardware-based authentication token to supplement or replace existing password-based schemes.
"We are delighted to partner with Rainbow Technologies," said Jude O'Reilley, solutions marketing manager for Aventail Corporation. "Token-based authentication gives IT managers two immediate benefits as they build extranet communities. One, it provides strong assurance that a user's privileges have not been transferred inappropriately, and two, it improves the user experience with simple, straightforward access. Rainbow's iKey is a welcome and unique addition to our established list of authentication products compatible with Aventail ExtraNet Center."
The iKey provides secure access to e-mail, Web-based access control, extranets and Virtual Private Networks. The iKey offers OEM providers of extranets, enterprise network solutions and large end-user enterprises a lower cost alternative for strong authentication. With the iKey, they can implement strong token-based, two-factor authentication utilizing X509v3 certs and LDAP directories for authentication services.
Aventail ExtraNet Center enables leading enterprises to deploy scalable, manageable, and measurable communities of trust to their critical business partners. Aventail's solution easily integrates into complex technology environments and allows IT architects to define and enforce authorized user access to any TCP/IP-based application including Web, Java, CORBA, and custom corporate. It's core software services - proxied architecture, granular access control, encryption that crosses firewall boundaries, PKI and directory integration - are designed for the unique challenges of business-to-business commerce and collaboration.
"The Rainbow and Aventail agreement enables Aventail's enterprise customers to combine Rainbow's iKey with their end-user solutions, giving Aventail customers a wider choice of authentication devices," said Ingrid Haysom, strategic relations manager of Rainbow. "Partnering with Aventail enhances Aventail's EMS solutions."
The latest version of Aventail ExtraNet Center supports multiple authentication methods including PKI, user database, token and smart cards, CHAP and RADIUS, as well as a variety of LDAP directories including IBM's (NYSE: IBM) SecureWay Directory, Lotus Domino, and Netscape's (NYSE: AOL) Directory Server.
