RAGU(R) CHICKEN TONIGHT(TM) GOES LIGHT

 TRUMBULL, Conn., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Van den Bergh Foods Company introduces a convenient and delicious way to lighten up dinner tonight. All new Ragu Chicken Tonight Light Simmer Sauces are available in three lively flavors: Italian Primavera, Honey Mustard, and Sweet and Spicy. They are high in taste, but low in fat, contain no cholesterol, and have one-third fewer calories than regular Chicken Tonight.
 Each 24 oz. jar of Ragu Chicken Tonight Light has large chunks of real vegetables and just the right amount of herbs and spices, turning ordinary chicken dinners into fantastic family meals served with pasta or rice. All you do is brown your chicken, simmer in Chicken Tonight Light, and serve with a pasta or rice sidedish.
 Information Resources identified Ragu Chicken Tonight as the hottest-selling meat sauce and marinade, the fastest-growing category in the supermarket. Sales of meat sauces and marinades have increased 193 percent, to $45.2 million for the 13 weeks ended Sept. 27, 1992. Sales of Ragu Chicken Tonight have increased 320 percent, to approximately $19.9 million in 1992. Similarly, the add-meat segment of the packaged dinner category has grown 49 percent since the introduction of Chicken Tonight. And, a remarkable 70 percent of purchases of Ragu Chicken Tonight were sourced from outside of the category.
