NEW YORK CITY, Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Radisson Hotels International, one of the world's fastest growing upscale hotel companies, today announced a major new international development agreement for South America, resulting in the first entry of Radisson in this region of the world with six deluxe hotels in the cities of Caracas, Venezuela; Santiago, Chile; Bogota, Colombia; Panama City; Montevideo, Uruguay; and La Paz, Bolivia.
The agreement, between Radisson Hotels International and Royal Hotels International Inc., calls for further expansion with up to 20 additional Radisson Hotels in key cities throughout South America. Joining in the announcement of this important new expansion in the South American hotel industry at a special news conference here today were Juergen Bartels, president and CEO of Carlson Hospitality Group, Inc., parent company of Radisson Hotels International and Camilo Estefan, president of Royal Hotels International Inc.

The Royal Hotels organization and its affiliates also hold the exclusive franchise for the World Trade Center concept in several countries in South America, and most of the new Radisson hotels which will be developed as part of this agreement will be located adjacent to the World Trade Center complexes. Royal Hotels will be developing new Radisson locations in South America under the name Radisson Hotels International of Latin America.
"We are pleased to join with Royal Hotels International Inc., an experienced operator of luxury hotels in the South American market, in announcing Radisson Hotels International of Latin America along with the exciting plans to develop Radisson Hotels throughout the continent's capitals and major cities," Bartels stated. "As Radisson has grown throughout Mexico, where there are now 11 locations, and the Caribbean, where there are nine additional Radisson locations, South America is a natural extension of our growth as a new market for the Radisson organization," he added.
"The Radisson name and the strength which it represents in the areas of worldwide marketing, sales, reservations and operational expertise, will be important assets to the new hotel products we are developing in South America," said Emile Chehab, vice president of Royal Hotels International Inc. "We intend to work with the Radisson organization to create showcase hotel operations throughout South America," he added.
