RADIO SHACK OPENS THIRD 'SUPER STORE'
SANTA ANA, Calif., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Radio Shack(R), the nation's largest retailer of consumer electronics, will open its third Radio Shack Super Store nationwide today in Santa Ana. Twice the size of a traditional Radio Shack store, the 4,000-square-foot super store will carry more than 3,500 consumer electronic products and feature a state-of-the-art autosound room. Located at 3925 South Bristol St., the new super store will showcase new product innovations such as the Tandy(R) Sensation!(R) Multimedia Personal Compute as well as a broad selection of televisions, camcorders, video cassette recorders, stereo equipment, telephones, calculators, home security devices, communications equipment, speakers, antennas, electronic components, batteries and accessories. In addition, the Santa Ana super store will test new merchandising and display concepts which may be incorporated into more than 6,600 Radio Shack stores and dealers throughout the United States. The company currently operates two super stores in Mesquite, Texas and Scottsdale, Ariz., both of which were opened in 1992. "The super store concept reflects Radio Shack's commitment to meet the ever-changing needs of American consumers," said Leonard Roberts, president of Radio Shack. "We believe a great selection of high-quality products at affordable prices combined with unmatched service and support is the best way to meet those needs." The Santa Ana super store is managed by Mark Lane, a 13-year veteran of Radio Shack. Prior to this position, Lane was a store manager in San Diego.
