RADIO: Hayes back after seven-year break.

PRESENTER Brian Hayes is making a return to Radio 2 after seven years as he stands in for Sir Jimmy Young as he continues his fight back to health, it was announced yesterday.

Hayes, often seen as the original UK shock-jock for his show on LBC in the 1970s and 1980s, is lined up for a threeweek stint.

Sir Jimmy is convalescing after an operation following problems with his replacement hip.

Clive Anderson has been among the presenters who filled in but Hayes, who is now a host for Radio 5 Live, will take over on July 29.

Australian-born Hayes, who also fronted Channel 4's Right To Reply show said yesterday, ``It'll be a pleasure to return to Radio 2.''
