RADIATION SYSTEMS REPORTS NEW CONTRACTS TOTALLING $2.9 MILLION
STERLING, Va., Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Radiation Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: RADS), today announced that it has been awarded three new contracts with a total value of $2.9 million.
Two of the contracts, with a combined value of $2.0 million, are to non-U.S. customers. Those contracts were awarded to the company's SatCom Technologies Division based in Duluth, Ga. One contract, awarded by SDS International, is for three 13-meter and one 11.3-meter satellite earth terminal antennas. The systems, which will be delivered to Mexico and Argentina, include earth station control and tracking systems. The other contract awarded to SatCom was by an Indian customer for antennas and components for use in India.
The third contract, valued at $0.9 million, was awarded by the Naval Sea Systems Command to Radiation Systems' Electromechanical Systems Division in Largo, Fla., which is the Navy-designated overhaul point for AN/SPS-49 (V) shipboard radar antenna pedestals. The contract represents the first work order of a basic ordering agreement (BOA) which company Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard E. Thomas said will increase in value as additional work orders are released. "The refurbishment business is providing a strong base of government work for Radiation Systems," Thomas said. "Because our work pre-empts the need for the acquisition of new hardware, we do not expect that this program will be negatively affected by military budget cutbacks," he said.
Thomas also noted that the company previously disclosed that it would seek new growth by capturing more contracts from non-U.S. customers and more contracts for total antenna systems. "The award of the new contract to our SatCom Technologies Division validates our strategy and evidences that we are going in the right direction," Thomas said.
Radiation Systems, Inc., designs, manufacturers and installs a broad range of antenna turnkey systems and components for radar, air traffic control, tactical military, satellite communications, terrestrial microwave and other specialized uses throughout the world.
