RADIATION SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES TWO CONTRACTS TOTALLING $3.0 MILLION
STERLING, Va., Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Radiation Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: RADS), today announced that it has been awarded two major contracts totalling approximately $3.0 million.
One contract, valued at $1.1 million, was awarded by the Defense Commercial Communications Office, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. Under this contract the company's SatCom Technologies Division in Atlanta will provide two mobile satellite communications terminals to the Defense Information Systems Agency. The 2.4-meter Intelsat E1 terminals are equipped with a Global Positioning System and will be self-contained, fully redundant, and include an over-the-road or air transportable trailer with an on-board diesel generator and environmentally controlled equipment area.
The other, valued at $1.9 million, was awarded by General Electric's Aerospace Operations Division, Moorestown, N.J. The company's Electromechanical Systems Division in Largo, Fla., will manufacture four antenna and pedestal systems to be installed on U.S. Navy ships. The equipment will be used as part of the ships' fire control systems. According to company officials, "the systems are designed to satisfy a wide range of sensor, weapon and platform requirements."
Radiation Systems' Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard E. Thomas said: "Both of these contracts are significant awards for our company for more than just their monetary value. Under the DECCO contract, we are providing the entire satellite communications terminal, which validates our capability as a full turnkey systems supplier to the telecommunications industry."
"The General Electric contract signals our re-entry into the fire control systems marketplace. We anticipate this will generate additional orders in the future."
"We are especially proud of the work we do and appreciate the need for superior reliability and quality for our customers," said Thomas. "We feel our 30-year history of manufacturing excellence is validated by these awards. It's an honor shared by all the men and women who have contributed to our record of excellence."
Radiation Systems, Inc., designs, manufacturers and installs a broad range of antenna turnkey systems and components for radar, air traffic control, tactical military, satellite communications, terrestrial microwave and other specialized uses throughout the world.
