RADIATION SYSTEMS, INC. AWARDED $6.5 MILLION CONTRACT BY RAYTHEON

STERLING, Va., May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Radiation Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: RADS) announced today that its Universal Antennas Division in Richardson, Texas, has been awarded a contract by Raytheon Company that has a total value of more than $6.5 million over a two-year period. The contract calls for Radiation Systems to provide the antenna mount mechanical drive and control system for the Ground Based Radar associated with the National Missile Defense System. In addition to the work performed by Universal Antennas, the company's Precision Controls Division, also in Richardson, will be supplying the servo control system providing dynamic control of the mount.
Last Friday the company announced that its board of directors had approved the purchase of up to 250,000 shares of its common stock to be placed in Treasury because it felt that current marketing conditions and the trading range of the common shares substantially undervalued the company. An initial purchase of 80,000 shares at $10.875 per share was consummated. In addition, the company's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Richard E. Thomas, and other senior executives will make a luncheon presentation at the New York Society of Security Analysts on Wednesday, May 19.
Radiation Systems, Inc. designs, manufactures and installs a broad range of antenna turnkey systems and components for radar, air traffic control, tactical military, satellite communications, terrestrial microwave and broadcast and other specialized uses throughout the world.
