RADIATION SYSTEMS, INC., ANNOUNCES CONTRACTS EXCEEDING $6 MILLION
STERLING, Va., April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Radiation Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: RADS), today announced that it has recently been awarded contracts with a total value in excess of $6 million. The contracts are for products that serve the radar/air traffic control and the troposcatter communications markets. The customers include Raytheon Company, Siemens Plessey Radar, the Federal Aviation Administration and the General Electric Company.
The company's Technical Products Division (TPD), based in Sterling, was awarded contracts with a total value of approximately $4.3 million. Two of the contracts are add-ons to existing contracts. One add-on is with the Federal Aviation Administration for open planar array antennas that are used for aircraft beacon interrogation. The second add-on is to its subcontract with Raytheon for 51 AN/TRC-170(V)3 troposcatter antennas. TPD also received contracts from Siemens Plessey Radar for both an airport terminal primary radar antenna (nomenclatured the AR-51) and a high gain open planar array (HGOPA) antenna, also used for aircraft beacon interrogation. Company Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard E. Thomas said the HGOPA is the company's newest product. He said the product has "tremendous customer satisfaction."
The company's Electromechanical Systems Division, based in Largo, Fla., received a $1.4 million total value contract from the General Electric Company of Syracuse, New York. It is for the manufacture of a pedestal for a phased-array radar, the AN/FPS-117, which is used in a versatile air defense system. The contract includes an option of less than $400,000.
"Both the air traffic control and the government communications markets are providing us opportunities for growth," Thomas said. "In fact, all of the company's products have a very strong market presence. Our people are energized by our international presence, our ability to market the entire antenna system as compared to just the antenna. These are both the result of strategic steps we have taken over the past two years to position Radiation Systems for growth," he said.
Radiation Systems, Inc., designs, manufactures and installs a broad range of antenna turnkey systems and components for radar, air traffic control, tactical military, satellite communications, terrestrial microwave and other specialized uses throughout the world.
