RACING: Poser for Dettori as Punctilious stakes claim.

FRANKIE DETTORI has two top-class fillies to choose from for next month's Vodafone Oaks after Punctilious played a starring role on the opening day of York's May meeting.

With 1000 Guineas runner-up Sundrop already heading the betting for the Epsom Classic, Godolphin's hand in the race strengthened significantly yesterday as the 4-5 favourite made all to win the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes.

Dettori gradually wound the tempo up all the way and, despite a swish of the tail two furlongs out, the filly answered all her rider's questions to outpoint Glen Innes by six lengths.

A promising juvenile last season,Punctilious was bought privately out of Michael Jarvis's stable after she was third in the Fillies' Mile at Ascot last September.

And Jarvis was first on the scene to offer a congratulatory handshake to the winning connections after her impressive success in the Group Three contest.

Punctilious is now a best priced 7-1 chance for next month's Oaks, although Irish layers Paddy Power were clearly more impressed and offer just 11-2.

``I didn't want to be too hard on her because some of them have been needing their first run,'' said the jockey. ``I thought she did it very well even though she was looking about a bit. But that's just her -she's quirky.''
