RACING: Bank on Mike's giant to succeed.

MEADOWBANK could be a name to look out for in staying chases in the year to come.

The successful point-to-pointer has been brought along steadily by Mick Easterby, who has rated him highly ever since buying the seven-year-old out of a field as a foal.

That patience is set to be rewarded as the giant gelding has now filled his frame and looked a chaser of some potential as he ran away from his rivals in the closing stages of a novice chase at Wetherby.

Meadowbank will be seen to good effect whenever the emphasis is on stamina and jumping ability - the Scottish Grand National has already been mentioned as a possible long-term target.
