RACE HATE IS ALIVE 'N TWEETING.

Byline: STAN COLLYMORE

I WAS given a huge reminder this week that racism has not disappeared.

On Twitter I was subjected to a lot of appalling messages - and had to call in the police as a result.

The worry is that these people are just looking for a retweet from me. Is this what the celebrity culture has come to?

You have to send a nasty criminal tweet to somebody to gain a moment in the spotlight? What next? Are these morons going to smash someone round the back of the head to get on TV? It is not me retweeting racist abuse that is wrong. It is a system that allows these people to keep Twitter profiles and have the tools to abuse people.

It worries me that racism is used so casually by kids who are growing up in a multi-cultural society.

Twitter must do much more to crack down because the trolls and abuse are not going away.
