RACE CRASH HORROR; Pensioner killed in bike accident.

A PENSIONER was killed at the Armoy Road Races in Co Antrim yesterday when he was struck by a motorcycle.

Hill McCook Snr, 75, from Armoy, was hit by a bike which crashed on the Dean's Rise part of the course before smashing into him.

The bike rider and a second spectator were also injured in the incident on the Ballycastle Road at around 4.30pm during the second lap of the final race.

The PSNI and Motorcycle Union of Ireland (Ulster Centre) are investigating.

Clerk of Course, Bill Kennedy, said he and Armoy Motorcycle and Road Racing Club are devastated.

Mr Kennedy said: "The incident took place during the second lap of the final race of the Armoy Road Race.

"A full investigation is being carried out jointly by the PSNI and MCUI [UC].

"Our thoughts and prayers are very much with the family at this sad time."

The injuries sustained by the rider and second spectator are not believed not to be serious.
