R.P. SCHERER ANNOUNCES EXPANSION OF ITS NORTH AMERICAN SOFTGEL CAPACITY
TROY, Mich., March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- R.P. Scherer Corporation (NYSE: SHR) announced today its decision to commence the construction of a new softgel encapsulation plant dedicated exclusively to the manufacturing of paintballs, its popular recreational product.
The plant will be located in St. Petersburg, Fla., and will incorporate state-of-the-art softgel technology. The facility, measuring approximately 25,000 square feet, will cost in excess of $4 million over the next few years.
Making the announcement, Herb Hugill, the president of R.P. Scherer North America, said: "This is an illustration of Scherer's ongoing commitment to our global paintball distribution network. Working with our distributors, we will provide continuing support to the worldwide growth of the sport of 'paintball.' Establishment of the new plant will allow us to continue the process of specialization of our softgel facilities. While the new facility will fully be dedicated to paintball activities, our main plant will focus its resources on the company's pharmaceutical, nutritional supplement and cosmetic products."
The increased capacity and dedicated facility will allow R.P. Scherer to continue to produce the highest quality and most accurate paintballs available, while being able to satisfy increasing demand for this popular product line.
R.P. Scherer is represented by a team of highly respected distributors with a worldwide network. This group includes Pursuit Marketing, Inc. (PMI) in North America, Mayhem Paintball Games Ltd. in the United Kingdom and Europe, and Paintball Australia Pty. in Australia.
