R.G. BARRY MARKET TESTING MICROWAVE HEATED SEAT CUSHION IN FALL '93

 PICKERINGTON, Ohio, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- R.G. Barry Corporation (AMEX: RGB) announced today that the footwear firm will be conducting a small-scale market test of a microwave heated seat cushion designed primarily for outdoor cold weather activities. The heated seat cushion can be used for warmth and comfort during cold weather spectator sports, while hunting or fishing, or as a car seat on cold mornings.
 The heated seat cushions keep the user warm and comfortable for up to 8 hours in cold weather after being heated in a household microwave oven for three minutes on each side for a total heating time of six minutes.
 The product's unique thermal transfer technology is patent pending and was jointly developed by R.G. Barry and Battelle, an internationally known research and development firm headquartered in Columbus, Ohio.
 Two versions of the microwave heated seat cushion will be tested at retail on a limited basis this Fall. The Heat Seat by Heat To Go is the discount store brand name retailing at $24.95. Department stores will test an upscale version under R.G. Barry's Dearfoams brand name at $29.95. Future actions will be based upon the result of the limited retail market test.
 R.G. Barry Corporation manufactures and markets soft washable slippers and footwear for at home and around the home wear. The company's principal channels of distribution are major department stores and promotional department stores, national chains, national discounters, and women's specialty stores.
