R.G. BARRY EXPANDS MANUFACTURING CAPACITY WITH ADDITIONAL MEXICO FACILITY

 PICKERINGTON, Ohio, Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- R.G. Barry Corporation (AMEX: RGB) announced today the expansion of the footwear firm's production capacity with the opening of a new manufacturing plant in Mexico.
 The 27,000-square-foot leased facility is located in Zacatecas, Mexico. The footwear manufacturing plant will employ approximately 300 people by the end of 1994. No U.S. jobs will be affected by the opening of the expansion plant.
 Zacatecas is located about 470 miles south of the Texas border in north-central Mexico. The Zacatecas area has a population of approximately 200,000 people with an excellent available labor force.
 R.G. Barry currently operates manufacturing facilities in Laredo and San Angelo, Texas; Nuevo Laredo and Ciudad Acuna, Mexico; and has exclusive right to output from a plant in Schenzen, China. Distribution facilities are located in San Angelo, Texas, and Goldsboro, N.C.
 R.G. Barry Corporation is the world's largest manufacturer and marketer of soft washable slippers and footwear for at-home and around- the-home wear. Principal U.S. channels of distribution are department stores, promotional department stores, national chains, national discounters and women's specialty stores. The company also exports its footwear to retailers in Mexico, Canada, the United Kingdom and major European markets.
