R.G. BARRY ESTIMATES EPS OF 48 TO 50 CENTS PER SHARE
FOR THIRD QUARTER WITH SALES UP 25 PERCENT
PICKERINGTON, Ohio, Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- R.G. Barry Corporation (AMEX: RGB) estimates earnings per share for the third quarter ended Sept. 26, 1992 at 48 to 50 cents per share compared to a net loss of 22 cents per share in the same quarter last year. Sales for the third quarter were up 25 percent to $30,000,000 compared to $23,882,000 in the same period last year.
"Operating effectiveness has improved dramatically," said Gordon Zacks, chairman and president. "We delivered third quarter orders complete and on time versus last year when serious operating problems affected our ability to ship third quarter orders pushing them into the fourth quarter."
For the first nine months, the company estimates a net loss per share of 47 to 49 cents compared to a net loss per share of $1.66 in the same period in 1991. Sales for 1992 are expected to be at the same level as 1991.
"The fourth quarter is our strongest quarter and we expect continued improvement in operating results. We are confident that 1992 will be a profitable year," said Zacks.
