R. ALAN BROGAN NAMED PRESIDENT OF NORTH AMERICAN VAN LINES

 NORFOLK, Va., March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- R. Alan Brogan will become president of North American Van Lines, Inc., (NAVL), a Norfolk Southern (NYSE: NSC) subsidiary, with headquarters in Fort Wayne, Ind.
 Brogan succeeds Joseph D. Ruffolo, who will become a full-time consultant to NAVL. Brogan will continue to serve as executive vice president-Transportation Logistics of Norfolk Southern Corporation.
 Brogan, a professional engineer with an MBA, began his career with a Norfolk Southern predecessor in 1964 as a research analyst and worked in various capacities for the Intermodal Marketing department. He became assistant vice president - Material Management in 1977, and vice president of that department in 1978. He became vice president - Quality Management in 1991 and was elected executive vice president - Transportation Logistics in 1992.
