Intuit (NASDAQ: INTU) QuickBooks has announced a new service that is intended to simplify health insurance for small business owners.
The firm said that health insurance would become part of its online payroll solution.
It is believed that about one in 12 Americans are already paid through QuickBooks Payroll. With the addition of insurance to the services, another barrier for owners would be removed, the firm said.
It said that even though many business owners are contemplate issuing insurance for their employees, the cost of the service has been a deterrent.
A study by the firm had indicated that 56 percent of businesses would purchase health insurance if it is linked to another product. The company has now brought together QuickBooks Online Payroll together with SimplyInsured, which allows owners to purchase the insurance of their choice.
