Quick review on deaths.

WOMEN whose convictions for murdering their babies have been thrown into doubt were today promised that their cases will be dealt with as quickly as possible.

All 258 criminal cases involving cot death over the past 10 years are to be reviewed urgently, the Attorney General announced. Convictions based on disputed evidence by expert witnesses have been thrown into doubt by the acquittal of Angela Cannings of murdering her two sons.

Of the 258 convictions, 54 defendants were still in prison.
