Question Time; your letters.

Q WHY were people who sold alcohol illegally in America during Prohibition known as bootleggers?

Albert Smith Plymouth

A THE term was probably first used to describe the practice of concealing flasks of illicit liquor in boot tops when going to trade with Indians.

It became widely used in the 1920s and early bootleggers smuggled foreign-made liquor into the US from Canada and Mexico and from ships in international waters.

In 1933 Prohibition was repealed by the 21st Amendment. Some counties continue to ban liquor though.

Bill Sanderson West London

CAN you answer this?

Q WHAT would happen if two black holes merged?
